Marble as a material carries associations of solidity and weight that Storms challenges by making it look featherlight. Using a technique called hydro-forming, a sheet of stainless steel is shaped into an or-ganic form using water pressure. This element supports the ultrathin marble top layer and lends strength to the table. This design pushes the boundaries of the material: it might be the lightest marble trestle table ever made.
When one turns the table top around and places it against a wall, it doubles as a mirroring sculptural object.
In Vein Kurozan is a special edition made in collaboration with Niyona. The straps are made of Kurozan leather, a precious leather obtained by tanning and lacquering Japanese Kuroge Wagyu hides. It results in an elegant black finish with a remarkable texture that is also known as ‘diamond leather’.
In Vein received the Henry Van de Velde Label from Design Flanders and won the award ‘Best Contemporary Design Piece’ at PAD Paris.
