At the heart of this piece is a departure from Storms' well-known Crushed series. Where the Crushed pieces let steel or stone fold and react under pressure, the material deciding as much as the maker, Pattern Cut Table starts from the opposite instinct. Every panel of Giallo Siena marble and every bend of brass was drawn and planned before a single cut was made, echoing the way a tailor prepares each pattern piece separately so every curve is composed rather than left to chance.
The result stays visually close to the Crushed series, but the outcome here is no longer a surprise, it is a decision, carried out. The exterior is covered in Giallo Siena veneer, which cracks and fragments in response to the surface beneath, evidence of the level of craftsmanship involved. Less visible but no less considered, the underside of the tabletop and the insides of the legs are finished in the same meticulously polished brass: a lining nobody asks about, the kind only a tailor insists on.
