The idea of water. Familiar to us as a volatile gas or otherwise in liquid or solid form, seems frozen here. The sheen of the surface, suggesting a gradual melting, a fluidity that eventually returns, transforms an appearance and suggests the passage of time. But then consider how glass is made. How it begins as sand and then becomes a glowing, hot orange, molten mass. The return to stillness that occurs after solidification. With a regained transparency that, depending on the surface treatment, either veils or allows a glimpse into the depths of the matter.
Moreover, the shape of this sculptural object is the result of an elaborate process involving the welding of steel plates and their transformation under high pressure, which are then used as the basis for a mould. This process, which is almost imperceptible, further enriches the interplay of properties.
